Digital Signature Certificates

A digital certificate is an electronic "credit card" that establishes your credentials when doing business or other transactions on the Web. Digital Certificates are issued by listed and licensed Certification Authority (CA).
Digital Signature Certificate contains your name, a serial number, expiration dates, a copy of the certificate holder's public key (used for encrypting messages and digital signatures), and the digital signature of the certificate-issuing authority so that a recipient can verify that the certificate is real. Digital Signature Certificates can be used for eFiling of Income Tax Returns, eTendering in India on Government Websites such as Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, and also Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Registrar of Companies Applications.

Class II DSC

Class 2 DSC is used for Income Tax E-Filing, MCA21, Sales Tax.
These certificates will be issued for both business personnel and private individuals use. These certificates will confirm that the information in the application provided by the subscriber does not conflict with the information in well-recognized consumer databases.

Class-3/Class-3B/Class-3C/Class-III/Class-IIIb/Class-IIIc

Class 3 DSC is used for Electronic Data Exchange (EDI), internet banking / broking, e-tendering, e-procurement or e-bidding and other web-based transactions where confidentiality and authenticity are critical.
This certificate will be issued to individuals as well as organizations. As these are high assurance certificates, primarily intended for e-commerce applications, they shall be issued to individuals only on their personal (physical) appearance before the Certifying Authorities.

Prepare Your Computer and Browser - (Follow the detailed steps below)

• Install USB Token drive from the CD you received in the pack if you wish to use USB Token for securing your Digital Signature. Using USB token is recommended for security reasons.
• If you do not have USB token available at the time of enrollment, you may download your DSC on your PC. It would be possible to import DSC in USB token at a later point.
• Your Computer must have Windows NT, 2000, XP and Internet Explorer Browser 5.5 or above.
• Active-X Controls need to be enable in your Internet Explorer Browser.
1. 1) Open a Browser (Internet Explorer).
2. 2) Go to Tools -> Internet Option -> Security
3. 3) Select Custom Settings
4. 4) Set all Options for Active-X Plug-ins to Enable and Click OK to Close the dialog.
• Set security to Medium from your Internet Explorer Browser.
• 1) Open a Browser (Internet Explorer).
• 2) Go to tools -> Internet Option -> Security
• 3) Click 'Default Settings' and set to 'Medium'
